Belief in the existence of God (a higher being) was prevalent in the understanding and ideology of mankind from man's inception with Adam (A.S.). Despite the many times that certain customs and rituals were introduced that changed the way man thought and led man away form monotheism, it has been the practice of the almighty to lead people back to the monotheistic path by means of Messengers, miracles and signs for understading.

Amongst the signs of understanding that Allah has allowed man to ponder over and think about; is the way in wich He manages His entire system. The way Allah allows different things to happen and the way He manages all the different aspects of sustaining His creation.

The different qualities of God was collectively fully understood by each of the Prophets and those close to them, but was lost to the nations in general. This led to major problems in so far as beliefs were concerned.

According to Islamic teachings full details of all qualities of Allah are explained and are available for all to understand.

One while pondering over His attributes and thus what results from them must not ponder in the being of Allah as He will never be fully understood by us. And incorrect understanding, which will be inevitable, can result in loss of faith and mis-guidance. This does not mean that we should study them and their effects to appreciate all the favours Allah has bestowed upon us, and to understand how His system works.

From the various qualities of Allah many have been specifically used in the Qur'an. The rest are from authentic Ahadith. The benefits of learning them and understading them is also mentioned in Ahadith;
